
Ukrainian weightlifter Olga Ivzhenko won three gold medals and became the absolute champion at the Youth Euro-2025. This happened following the results of the competitions in the weight category up to 58 kg, which are taking place in Albania.
At the continental championship among juniors and youth, which is taking place in Albania from October 28 to November 4, the Ukrainian national team is represented by 23 weightlifters in two age groups. One of the main contenders for the Euro U23 awards was Olga Ivzhenko - the current European champion in the snatch, as well as the bronze medalist in the combined event.
How did the Youth Euro-2025 go for Olga Ivzhenko?
In the first attempt at the snatch, the weightlifter showed a result of 91 kg, and in the second she improved it by two kilograms. As a result, Ivzhenko completed the competition by conquering 95 kg, taking first place. The Ukrainian was nine kilograms ahead of the German Annika Pilz, who won a small "silver".
In the clean and jerk, Olga lifted 111 kg in her first attempt, after which she improved her result by four kilograms, but was unable to record 118 kg in her last attempt. In the end, the Ukrainian won with a result of 115 kg, beating the closest pursuer, German Lilia Brendo, who became second by 21 kg.
In the sum of the two disciplines, Ivzhenko showed a result of 210 kg, becoming the absolute champion of the Euro U23 with a gap of 21 kg from her closest rival. The "silver" of the Euro in the combined event was won by Pilz, while the bronze medal was won by Brendo - both weightlifters gained 189 kg.

In addition to Ivzhenko, Yulia Kovaleva, who competed in the 53 kg weight category, won medals at the youth continental championship. The Ukrainian won two "bronzes": in the snatch, recording 83 kg, and in the combined event with a total of 185 kg (jerk — 102 kg, sixth place).
The Ukrainian national team also has two more "bronzes" at the European Junior Championships. In the weight category up to 48 kg, Kateryna Malashchuk won the "bronze" in the snatch with a result of 76 kg, while in the clean and jerk she stopped one step away from the award, recording 94 kg. In the total of the combined effort, Kateryna also took third place with a total of 170 kg. In addition, in the clean and jerk and jerk, Malashchuk updated European records among girls under 17 years old.
