Icelandic strongman Hafthor Björnsson (known as "The Mountain" from Game of Thrones) is preparing to break his own world record in the deadlift.
What record are we talking about?
Hafþór plans to lift 515 kg. This ambitious feat will set a new benchmark in the history of strength sports.
Current record: Hafthor already holds the world record, having lifted 510 kg at the Birmingham Championships in September 2025.
Attempt date: The new record (515 kg) is planned for May 24, 2026.
Venue: The competition will be held in Las Vegas as part of the first-ever "Enhanced Games" (doping-friendly games).
Prize: A $250,000 bonus is promised for a successful lift of 515 kg.
Hafþór Björnsson is the only person in history to have officially lifted over 500 kg three times (501 kg in 2020, 505 kg, and 510 kg in 2025). A 515 kg attempt is definitively intended to cement his status as the strongest deadlifter of all time.
